How to become an Offshore Medic

This article details the requirements and steps required to gain your HSE OFFshore Medic's Certificate. You will need this if you want to work in the UK sector of the Offshore Industry

Can a Paramedic become an Offshore Medic?

One of our members wrote to the HSE asking about the suitability of Paramedics in the Oil and Gas Industry. This articles contains the answer he got back.

Better than real job

This article gives you some idea of what to expect as an Offshore Medic. It covers the primary roles as well as all the different types of additional tasks you get whther working on a Platform, Drilling Rig or Support Vessel (Dive Boats, Pipelayers etc)

Your First Trip

This guide is the first in a series I am writing. They aren’t a ‘what to do’, so much as a’ what happened to me and learn from my mistakes if you want to’.  I don’t claim for one moment they will be perfect – but I’ll try to cover the stuff I’ve experienced.

Please feel free to point out any different experiences you may have had (best do that over on the forums)

Safety Inductions

This guide gives you an idea of what to expect in your first few hours offshore - regardless of where you end up. I’m doing this as a separate guide. Not because it’s a huge deal – but because I personally found it totally confusing. Once you’ve done it once – it’s never as confusing again. Each installation will have some variations – I’ve tried to include the items which will be common to any installation here.

Don't Panic!!

In the latest of Grumbleguts' Guides, we get a closer look at what you should be expecting during your first few hours on an installation.
